Giuliana Rancic Having Double Mastectomy

Giuliana Rancic, who announced she was battling breast cancer back in October, told the Today Show this morning she plans on undergoing a double mastectomy followed by an immediate reconstruction. But even though this will be a difficult time for the E! star, she's determined to remain positive, saying, "I'll be able to say that I survived something major and it's made me stronger. I will be a better woman for it." Giuliana also explained why she decided to go public with the news, stating that she wants to take the stigma away from the procedure and "encourage everyone to be proactive with their health and get checked out." As of right now, the surgery is set to take place next week and I think I speak for everyone when I say we wish her the best of luck!

Neil Patrick Harris' reign of hilarity hit a minor speed bump last Thursday during his co-hosting gig at Live With Kelly after a Silence of the Lambs joke went awry. While experimenting with sulfur hexafluoride -- which causes your voice to sound extremely deep -- the actor played around with the voice change by quoting Buffalo Bill's famous line, "It puts the lotion in the basket." All seemed fine until Harris followed up the gimmick by saying, "I've never sounded more like a tranny in my life." Realizing how what he said could be taken the wrong way, NPH took to Twitter to apologize for the insensitive remark and wrote, "Truly sorry for saying the word 'tranny' on Live this week. Twice! Should have been more thoughtful. Didn't at all mean to offend. There's the guy we know and love -- willing to admit when he's wrong. Feel free to continue to think he's absolutely amazing.
