'Kat Did No Justice To Chameli'

Eesha Koppikhar doesn't blame "poor girl" Katrina Kaif for failing the Marathi mulgi act in Chikni Chameli. While the rest of the country goes gaga over Kat in the Agneepath track, the 35-year-old slams it.
"The expression was missing from the song primarily because Katrina is not from Maharashtra. Madhuri (Dixit) or Sonali (Bendre) or any girl who has lived in Mumbai could have done full justice to it," says Koppikhar, who recently performed to Komdi Pallali the Marathi original from which the songs seeks inspiration at the Nashik Film Festival.
She adds, "Katrina has barely started to pick up Hindi and asking her to do an item number inspired from a Maharashtrian folk song was not done. I don't want to hurt anyone but being from Maharashtra and having the song in my blood, I feel that the makers should have looked for a girl who understood the culture well."
CHIKNI CAUSES BLOODBATH
Two persons were reportedly injured and a businessman arrested on charges of attempt to murder, thanks to a Chikni Chameli performance that became the bone of contention at a dance-bar in Mumbai over the weekend. A businessman, Gupta, fought with the patrons who objected to him requesting the female performer to sing Chikni Chameli over and over again. The fight resulted in him opening fire at the patrons and guests.
